It’s been a week since I went to Pinners and I still think about how much fun we had! As I mentioned in my previous post about my plans for going, I attended VIP night and then went with Sean and Marvel on Saturday.
VIP night was fun. I met up with Nessa from 2 Dorks in Love and we waited in line to get let in. They had one line but two different places to check in, one for VIP paying attendees and one for bloggers and vendors. The one we needed to check into was a bit quicker so we didn’t have to wait as long.
We got a bag full of items from different vendors and picked up our shirts and blender bottles. I was very hungry, as I hadn’t had dinner, so we went straight to the treats and drinks section. There were different cupcakes, cake bites, and cookies from a local bakery and there was a gentleman making “dirty” drinks that could go in our blender bottles (sodas with coconut syrup and limes). We then went around to different vendors and to take pictures to put on Instagram to earn additional entries for the raffle that would happen later on.
We didn’t get to go through all the vendors because we had to then go to the main stage for some activities. We sat down and they introduced some of the sponsors before giving us envelopes to open. We each grabbed one and in the envelope, there was a piece of paper with a word or phrase on it that had to do with Utah or Pinterest things. I honestly don’t remember what mine said, but we had to find others that had the same one as us and sit with them at a table. The one I had only had 2 other people so we joined a table that had enough room for us.
We then had to create a t-shirt design for Cricut to make a shirt with one of their products. We figured it needed to be something to do with Pinterest and Pinners so we designed something that had where we were all from (some of the ladies on our table were from out of state) and then had a phrase that talked about bringing us together for Pinterest. It was cute and clever I thought. Though after we drew it someone threw out the idea that we should do one of those fake bikini shirts.
They let us wander the vendors again for a bit and we grabbed our extra extra raffle tickets then went back to the main stage for more games and raffles (this time we could sit where we wanted).
I will note that even though it was fun, it ran a bit long. We were waiting on Cricut to make the shirts and things were running later than they were supposed to, plus it was a bummer that our table didn’t win any of the games. I still tried to keep a positive attitude though.
They finally brought out the winning shirt designs and it was apparent we didn’t need to have done anything to do with Pinners and Pinterest. The designs were cute like a dream catcher or a little teepee and I was wishing then we would have done that bikini instead! They then started the raffle which I sadly didn’t win anything but there were only a few things I would have realistically used anyways.
The one thing frustrating with the raffle though was that there were duplicate numbers. Nessa had someone else claim something that she had the winning number for, and we figured it may have been a fluke, like the person didn’t read their number right, but then it happened to someone else later. Nessa didn’t say anything because it wasn’t something she had really wanted, but if it had been one of the bigger ticket items, she definitely would have spoken up (or I would have for her). There were also things that were listed on the site that would be raffled off that weren’t included in the raffle, so I was a little disappointed there.
Finally, when it was almost 11, they were finished. I was tired and had work the next day, so I didn’t linger for too long afterwards. I’d been doing some networking by giving my cards out to people, but I knew I’d be back on Saturday.
Saturday was more of a shopping day for us. I’d gotten the free shopping passes online (5 dollars at the door) and opted to not do any classes since we’d have Marvel with us and I knew if I decided to do a class while there, I could upgrade.
We were joined by some friends and we wandered the vendors, buying a few things here and there, even getting some Christmas shopping done and some networking. We did need to take a couple of breaks having Marvel with us but she was pretty easy going and gave lots of smiles to the people around her. She even slept for a little bit on my back in the wrap I had her in.
All in all it was a lot of fun and I definitely want to go again! I think Sean would even like to go, even if he was one of the only guys there!
