I’d like to say I’m not one of those girls who gets distraught about Fandom Deaths but if I did say that then I’d be lying.
We get invested into these Fandoms so when a beloved character gets killed off, you better believe it can feel earth shattering. Thankfully it’s not too hard to bounce back from because you can go back and relieve your favorite moments.
But unfortunately there’s some of those deaths where I’m still upset, so of course, if you want to avoid spoilers, don’t read on.
The first Fandom Death that I’m still mourning over is over course:
1. Han Solo from Star Wars
If you want to know how upset I was about Han Solo’s death in The Force Awakens, just ask Sean’s hand. I was squeezing it so tight while trying to muffle my sobs. I swear the theater was so quiet you could hear a pin drop so I didn’t want to ruin anyone’s movie going experience by howling like a banshee.
Of course I wasn’t surprised at his death. I saw it coming and thought in my head “do not go on that bridge!” But despite all the foreshadowing, it still struck me to the core.
2. Finn Hudson from Glee
The death of Finn Hudson only happened because the actor Cory Monteith passed away. The show, which was already nearing the end of it’s run, had plans for Finn to take over the Glee Club and become the new “Mr. Shue”.
I don’t know if anyone can get through the tribute episode “The Quarterback” without crying. The end is particularly hard as Rachel, played by Cory’s real life girlfriend Lea Michele, singing her goodbyes. The tears and feelings are real ladies and gentleman.
3. Amy and Rory Williams from Doctor Who
Technically Amy and Rory don’t actually die. They get sent back in time by the Weeping Angels and can’t return to the modern day. But it’s not any less of a heart wrenching goodbye.
I remember watching the episode on the computer with my headphones on Sean looking over at me so concerned because I was full of sobs. I still have a hard time watching that episode without crying.
4. Khal Drogo from Game of Thrones
Khal Drogo was scary at first and you didn’t really want to like him because of how rough he was. But really he was a product of his environment. He needed to be tough because he was the Khal (like a chief) of his tribe.
You couldn’t help but fall in love with him as the Khaleesi Danaerys did.
Losing her beloved was hard on Danaerys, despite that through his death she gained her prized Dragons.
My secret wish is that someday he will come back to her.
But unfortunately, with this death in Game of Thrones, dead is dead.
5. Charlie Pace from Lost
Sometimes you hated Charlie but most of the time you loved him. The love story between him and Claire was one of the most sweet on the show.
We all thought maybe, just maybe he wouldn’t die, even though Desmond saw he would in one of his “visions”, when the time came, we all couldn’t believe it.
I will never not tear up at the sight of “Not Penny’s Boat” on someone’s hand.
Is there a Fandom Death that you’re still reeling over?
