I put together this Geek Gift Guide because sometimes it can be daunting to know what to get the Geek in your life for Christmas. I know sometimes I’m scratching my head and wish someone would just tell me what to get them.
I’ve included a wide variety of Geek types so there’s something for everyone.
But hey, if I missed the type of Geek you need to buy a gift for, don’t hesitate to drop a comment and I’ll help you find a gift that’s perfect for them!
J.K. Rowling wrote the script for the film. Thank goodness she released the script to buy in book form! Give this gift to the Harry Potter fan in your life to help them complete their collection. It’ll help them experience the magic all over again while they search the script for clues for what’s to come!
You can help your Star Wars fan’s car look like Chewie, Obi-Wan, Luke, and Han are in the cock pit of the Millennium Falcon with this awesome Sunshade. It’ll definitely make people do a double take! We got this for our car and can’t wait to use it!
For the Gamer Geek:
The winner of Game of the Year at this years Game Awards! If the gamer in your life doesn’t have this game yet, then you should get it for them! It’s my personal favorite (Yes I did cheer when it won) and the reason we bought my own PS4 so Sean and I could play it as a couple.
If you need a system to play it, make sure you pick up a PS4 or Xbox One while you’re at it. Or if your gamer plays on a computer, pick them up a fancy new PC gaming computer or laptop. They’ll be happy you did.
Have your Star Trek fan test their knowledge with this Star Trek themed Trivial Pursuit! If it’s anything like my Harry Potter Trivial Pursuit, then they’re definitely not easy questions! But the most hardcore fans will have a blast spouting out the answer faster than you can say “warp drive”.
For the Creative Geek:
Sean’s early Christmas present was a 3D printer (specifically the Maker Select Version 2) We’d been looking into getting one since last Christmas and decided to bite the bullet. They’re surprisingly becoming more affordable, and it’s amazing what you can make! There are some great sites with free designs that others in the 3D printing community have made. We like Thingiverse and MyMiniFactory. Our printer is normally running constantly at our house.
If you have a younger kid, a 3D pen might be a better start.
And don’t forget to get some filament so you can print! A spool of PLA Filament lasts quite a while.
Disney fans LOVE to show they love Disney, especially when it comes to decorating their home. This sign is perfect in summing up their way of life! They will be so grateful that you understand them that they might take you on their next Disney trip! (*no guarantees of course)
My birthday is next week and as an early present to myself I got this record player during Amazon’s Black Friday sale. It’s a great player and even records music from the vinyl record to a usb drive if you have an old record you want recorded!
There’s something to be said about listening to music from a record. It’s such a different experience than listening via CD or your computer. I really enjoy the crackling sound of the vinyl and watching the record spin.
Make sure to get them some vinyl records to listen to as well!
For the Musical Theater Geek:
I admit I didn’t buy into the hype of Hamilton until I finally sat down and listened to the whole thing. But now I love it and consider myself a fan and among the others who want to see this groundbreaking musical. This book contains the full libretto of the musical with notes and stories to give behind the scenes looks into the making of the musical as well as the history of Alexander Hamilton and the Revolutionary War. It’ll make you laugh and cry as you experience the musical in a whole new way.
We first played this game with Sean’s family that was visiting during the holiday break and had a lot of fu!
You pick a card with a subject that you then choose from different icons on the board to explain the subject. The other players have to guess your subject correctly from the icons you chose. It takes some abstract thinking sometimes but we loved it enough that we bought it for ourselves!
For the Lego Geek:
It’s probably easier to build a lego set on the table, but it’s definitely more fun spreading all the pieces out on the ground and putting your set together there like when you were a kid. But the worst part about that is cleaning the pieces up when you’re done building. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve found random Lego pieces on the floor after one of Sean’s building sessions. This mat is a great solution to that problem and any Lego fan would be glad to have it!
The Supernatural fan in your life will love coloring in this Supernatural Adult Coloring Book! They’ll be able to relive some of their favorite scenes and color fun patterns that incorporate many of the recognizable symbols from this long running TV show. They’ll need some colored pencils too, I recommend this set of Prismacolor colored pencils.
For the Marvel Fan:
Do you have a fan of the Marvel movies and comics in your life? Then this is a great book to help them learn facts about the universe(s) they’ve come to love! I put this one is going on my wish list too!
For the Game of Thrones Fan:
Your Game of Thrones fan will love building property on the places they’ve come to know and love (well sometimes not love) from this popular TV show. Like Game of Thrones, Monopoly is a long game, so it might take some time to find out who will sit the Iron Throne. At least Monopoly will only take a few hours instead of years of television.
I was lucky enough to be gifted one of these hand held photo printers by HP as a part of being on their Millennials Panel. It fits perfectly in my purse pocket and prints in seconds! I love being able to take a picture and print it on the go if needed. The photo paper is sticky backed too so if you have younger kids they can stick it in their lockers or decorate their notebooks with photos of their friends!
I hope this Geek Gift Guide helps you out! Remember, if you don’t see the type of Geek you’re looking for, let me know in the comments and I’d love to help you out!
